Fall 2011

Wow, a whole season has gone by.  I’m finally on semester break and able to take a breath or two.  Here are some highlights:
Brett is starting a new position at work.  For those of you who don’t know, he works at Active Power.  He was working on the floor putting together pods and fly-wheels.  He’ll now be working in the materials side.  He’s been working at AP for many years and is excited to try something new within the company. It also offers much more room for advancement and more flexibility to take classes during the week once Michelle graduates.
Brett’s dad (Bryant) went in for a cardiac stent placement and ended up having to have a quadruple bypass.  We left the dogs with family (thanks everyone!) and drove up to Little Rock to be there for the surgery on December 19.  The surgery went great, but his recovery has not gone so well.  He’s slowly recovering, but unfortunately he’s still in the hospital.  Vicki has been at his side the whole time and by now they are very anxious to go home.  At this point we don’t know when he’s supposed to get discharged, but hopefully soon.  A hospital is a terrible place to spend the holidays.
Michelle started working PRN at Scott and White Hospital.  She picks up shifts in their community family practice clinics and at the specialty clinics that run out of the hospital in Round Rock.  It gives her a chance to see and experience all sorts of areas.  During the holidays she is picking up as many hours as she can. School starts again January 17th. This will be the 2nd semester of a 3-semester program.  She graduates with her RN in August.
The dogs are doing well.  We’ve been very grateful to Bryce & Kathryn, Becca & Casey the last few weeks for watching the dogs 8 out of 10 days in a row.  Hopefully we can repay the favor soon!
I'll send a separate post about our Christmas.  I hope everyone is doing well!!  Here's a gratuitous video of the kids being cute during halftime when we went over to B&K's to watch a game.
